Late Models Make their Return To Brighton Speedway in 2010!
In an effort to spice up the already exciting weekly race program for 2010, Brighton Speedway Promoter’s Mark and Angie Rinaldi are pleased to officially announce the addition of Pro Late Models. It has been over 9 years since these full bodied, dirt flinging monsters have raced on a regular basis on the 1/3rd mile clay oval and the early buzz has been extremely positive.
“With a number of drivers already committed to the new division in 2010 we look forward to growing this increasingly popular division north of the border” says General Manager Angela Rinaldi. Two current Brighton Speedway Drivers have already made the commitment purchasing cars; Phil Potts of Frankford will be driving a brand new 2010 Lazer Chassis for car owner Stewart Archer and 2008 Canadian Modified Champion Andrew Hennessy driving a 2007 Mastersbilt chassis formerly driven by Southern Ontario racing legend Kirk Hooker.
“We’re going back to our roots”, Promoter Mark Rinaldi says with the addition of Pro Late Models to our schedule. “Late Models were a part of Brighton Speedway’s history since day one back in 1967 through to 2000 and we know people will be excited to see the latest and greatest edition of the cars”. These cars are a full late model with a 602 or 604 GM Crate Engine. “The GM Crate Motor makes the class affordable for racers and the class has seen tremendous growth south of the border and keeps the competition close”.
Late Models will be a co-headlining division with the already popular Canadian Modified division at the speedway and both classes look to offer strong car counts and great racing. These two headlining divisions will be joined many times throughout 2010 by other top divisions such as the Southern Ontario Sprints, Ontario Dirt Late Models, DIRTcar 358 Modifieds and DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds making for and action packed season on the popular dirt oval.
The Late Models make their return debut on Saturday May 22nd at 7:00pm. Joining the Late Model on this night will be the Southern Ontario Sprints for their season opener.
The 2010 schedule is in the works with advertising and marketing opportunities open for discussion. Keep up to date at www.brightonspeedway.com or email us at info@brightonspeedway.com.
